Things to Remember When Scheduling a Diagnostic Medical Imaging Test

All diagnostic medical imaging tests require a prescription no matter what kind of insurance you have. It is illegal for us to perform a procedure without a prescription and we will not schedule you without one.

Please make sure you are scheduling the right procedure. If you are scheduling by phone we cannot see your prescription and it is up to you to tell us exactly what it says. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or come in to our office or fax your script to us and we will do our best to help you.

If your test requires blood work please have it completed several days before your test and let us know at which facility you had it done. If we do not have the blood work on time we will not be able to perform the study.

Know How Your Insurance Works

If your insurance requires referrals or pre-certifications, please have your referring physician take care of that prior to scheduling an appointment. For more information please refer to our page on Insurance & Payment Questions.

Please have your insurance information ready when scheduling. It is our policy to check insurance validity prior to the procedure. We know this is unusual, but it is done for your protection as well as ours. If your insurance requires out of pocket payments or extra steps to allow the procedure it is better to find this out ahead of time rather than be billed for it later.

It is imperative that you understand that we tell you all the information that your carrier (insurance company) tells us prior to the appointment. However, the final decision on the part of the carrier as to what is covered is made after we submit our claim.

Please answer our questions truthfully and in detail. Your safety is our first priority.

Please follow all instructions. These protocols are there for a reason. We are here to help ensure your continued health, but you have to be a willing participant.

Please always notify your physician and the staff of IPMC of any preexisting conditions or if you are pregnant.

If you require images in the form of films or a CD, please notify us when scheduling or during registration and they will be provided for you at the end of your appointment.

The report from your study will be sent via fax to your referring physician within two business days. If you wish to have it sent to any additional physicians, please notify us while scheduling or during registration.

If you are unsure about any part of this please feel free to call us at 215-464-3300 and we will be happy to answer any questions.
