Preparing for an X-ray is simple and typically doesn’t require much effort. To ensure your appointment goes smoothly and to get the most accurate results, please follow these guidelines.
Leave jewelry at home
On the day of your X-ray, please leave all jewelry at home. Jewelry can interfere with the imaging process and may need to be removed before the procedure.
Special preparation for certain X-Rays
While most X-rays do not require any special preparation, if your prescription calls for a KUB X-ray (Kidneys, Ureters, Bladder) or an Abdominal X-ray, there are specific instructions:
- If you’ve recently had a test involving Barium or a contrast injection, please notify us beforehand. You will need to schedule your X-ray at least 10 days after the contrast study to avoid interference with the images.
Have questions or concerns?
If you’re unsure about any part of your X-ray preparation, especially regarding previous tests or the required waiting period after a contrast study, please contact your referring doctor or primary care physician for further clarification.
